Michael La Sasso Named SEC Men’s Golfer of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference has named Raleigh, North Carolina native Michael La Sasso the SEC Men's Golfer of the Week. La Sasso tallied his first collegiate victory this past Tuesday at the Hamptons Intercollegiate at Maidstone Golf Club. He recorded a 54-hole score of 201 (-15) winning the tournament by 11 strokes.
La Sasso helped lead the Rebels to their first team victory of 2024 and first complete sweep since October 31, 2021, when the Rebels won the team and individual title at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational.
He recorded three rounds in the 60s including an (-8) 64 in round two in which he carded nine birdies and an eagle.
La Sasso led the field in par-5 scoring on the week (3.92) and in total birdies with 19. Through three events in 2024, La Sasso has a pair of top five finishes and a 68.56 stroke-average. He has finished inside the top 20 in all three tournaments this fall.

Ole Miss will look to build on the win in two weeks at the Fallen Oak Invitational (Oct. 21-23). The Rebels will co-host the tournament along with Mississippi State and Southern Miss. The event will take place in Biloxi, Mississippi at the Fallen Oak Course.
