Men's Tennis Goes Undefeated in Doubles on Second Day of Georgia Tech Invite

ATLANTA - The Ole Miss men's tennis team completed a stellar second day of competition at the Georgia Tech Invitational at the Ken Byers Tennis complex on Saturday. The Rebels secured two wins in doubles and added three wins to the day in singles.
Starting the day off hot, the duo of Matthieu Chambonniere and Isac Strömberg captured their second win as a pair on the season by defeating Mississippi State's duo of Michal Novansky and Radomir Tomic, 8-5.
Loan Lestir and Benjamin Martin squared off against Liberty's Matija Samardzic and Santiago Arraez. The young duo showed determination and came out on top, 8-7 (4), to add their third win of the season to the books.
Strömberg opened the singles round by securing a gritty 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, win over Alabama's No. 62 ranked Andrii Zimnokh. This victory marks the junior's first win over a ranked opponent on the season.
Lestir kept things going for the Rebels by notching an exciting comeback against Zach Foster from Alabama. The freshman defeated Alabama's student-athlete 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, to capture his third singles win of the fall season.
Martin came out ready to go against Liberty's Carl Roothman. The freshman showed his competitive spirit by forcing three sets and came out victorious 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
Chambonniere played Michal Novansky from Mississippi State and ultimately dropped his match 6-3, 6-1. The freshman moves to 6-3 in the fall season and will look to add to the win column on the final day of play in Atlanta.
Gordon Whitwell squared off against Ernst Gouws and forced three sets, but fell to Liberty's student-athlete 4-6, 6-0, 7-6.
The Rebels will have one more day of competition in Atlanta on Sunday, which will wrap up their time in the Peach State.
