Softball Bolsters Pitching Staff, Adds Lilly Whitten as Transfer

12/19/2024 | Softball

OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss softball program and head coach Jamie Trachsel strengthened their promising pitching corps with another SEC talent, adding Lilly Whitten as a transfer.

Whitten joins the program after spending two years at Missouri and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after redshirting as a true freshman.

Hailing from Tunas, Mo., Whitten joins the Rebels after going 5-0 with a 1.18 ERA over 29.2 innings pitched in her collegiate debut season in Columbia. Whitten recorded 27 strikeouts and allowed just nine walks over eight relief appearances and three starts. In SEC play, Whitten was just as strong, tallying a 1.35 ERA over four appearances.

Her collegiate debut was a strong one, as she tallied a career-best eight strikeouts over 6.0 innings in a win over South Dakota State. Whitten has also been a strong student in her collegiate tenure, being named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in the spring and the First Year Honor Roll as a freshman.

Whitten joins a prolific class of eight transfers and eight freshmen, as the 16th newcomer for the Rebels, who will pursue their fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance under Trachsel.
