Volleyball Inks Jordyn Towns as Transfer
12/20/2024 | Volleyball
OXFORD, Miss. – Fresh off a historic 2024 season, the Ole Miss volleyball program and head coach Bre Henry have made a splash in the transfer portal, signing middle blocker Jordyn Towns as a transfer.
Towns joins the Rebels after two seasons at Alabama and will have two more seasons of eligibility remaining.
A native of Loganville, Ga., Towns joins the Rebels with significant starting experience in the SEC, where she made an impact in two seasons in Tuscaloosa. Towns has played in 33 matches and 111 sets over her career, recording 195 kills and 82 blocks. Her sophomore campaign saw immediate improvement, as she hit .221 with 148 kills and 58 blocks over 22 matches, despite only entering the starting lineup later in the season.
Towns recorded some of her best performances in SEC play, including 10 kills and a career-high six blocks each in wins over Georgia and Auburn, as well as a career-high 12 kills in a win over Mississippi State. Towns was also effective against the Rebels, tallying nine kills and five blocks in their five-setter at Alabama on Nov. 24.
Towns, a 6'6" middle blocker, will also make history as the tallest player to ever suit up for the Rebels.
Henry has found plenty of early success in the transfer portal, as Nia Washington and Mokihana Tufono, who both joined as transfers in the last two off-seasons, were named AVCA All-Region this season. Washington also recently became just the third All-American in program history, when she was named an honorable mention selection.
