Women’s Track & Field No. 13 in Week Four USTFCCCA Index

NEW ORLEANS – Ole Miss women's track & field moved up to No. 13 in the Week Four USTFCCCA Indoor Rating Index released on Monday.
Overall, this is the 54th ranking for the Rebel women since their first appearance in 2008. Of the 103 combined indoor rankings in Ole Miss history, ninth-year head coach Connie Price-Smith owns 70 total appearances (46 women, 24 men).
The Ole Miss women are still heavily paced by its duo at the top of the weight throw leaderboard in All-American seniors Jalani Davis (No. 1, 24.64m/80-10.25, 24.82 points) and Jasmine Mitchell (No. 2, 24.20m/79-04.75, 21.87 points). Davis is also contributing 13.53 points in the shot put, ranking fifth at 18.00m/59-00.75 to make her the lone thrower worldwide this season at 80 feet in the weight and 59 in the shot.
Freshman Mensi Stiff broke into the top-10 in the shot put this past week, currently sitting ninth with 7.56 points at her Ole Miss freshman record 17.54m/57-06.50. Mitchell is also contributing in the shot put, this week ranking 15th at her season-best 17.19m/56-04.75 – good for 1.69 points. All-told, the Rebel women's throwers currently account for 69.47 of Ole Miss' 71.31 total points in the Week Four index.
Ole Miss is also receiving three contributing performances from its women's sprinters. All-American senior McKenzie Long is ranked in both the 200-meter dash (19th, 23.10, 1.14 points) and 60-meter dash (30th, 7.28, 0.15 points). Senior transfer Jahniya Bowers entered the rankings this week in the 60-meter dash, currently sitting 23rd at 7.27 (0.55 points).
The USTFCCCA's National Rating Index is a computer rating system that uses an algorithm that emphasizes individual performances, assigning a point value to each individual mark that contributes to a team total to assess its national ranking.
Ole Miss has one week of regular season work left before the 2024 SEC Indoor Championships on Feb. 23-24, this week sending a handful to the Arkansas Qualifier (Feb. 16) and then a distance medley relay to Notre Dame's Alex Wilson Invite (Feb. 17).
