Women’s Golf Sits in Fourth After Round One at Moon Golf Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Ole Miss women's golf got underway at the Moon Golf Invitational on Saturday, compiling a team score of 287 (-1) at the Suntree Country Club Classic Course.
The Rebels will open the second round in fourth and just five strokes behind the leader. Ole Miss ended the opening day with a total of 16 birdies as a team, along with a combined 59 pars.
Senior Andrea Lignell paced the Rebels on the day, starting her tournament off with a round of 70 (-2) and entering the second round tied for sixth. The Gothenburg, Sweden, native ranks second among par-4 scoring, shooting 2-under on those holes.
Caitlyn Macnab also put together a strong start to her weekend for the Rebels, ending the opening day tied for 14th with a scorecard of 71 (-1). The junior currently ranks first in par-3 scoring across the field, shooting 2-under, while also ranking second in number of birdies with six.
Natacha Host Husted is currently tied for 22nd after the first round, shooting even par on the day. The junior went par or better on 16 of her 18 holes played, tallying two birdies and 14 pars to help excel the Rebels into the top-5.
Freshman, Sophie Linder, showed grit in her sixth collegiate tournament as she rounded out the day with a score of 74 (+2) to find herself tied for 48th. With 15 made pars, the Carthage, Tennessee, native currently sits in second for most pars in the field, including one birdie.
Justine Fournand rounded out the lineup for the Rebels after she strung together a score of 75 (+3) to place her tied for 57th. After a slow start to her day, the senior worked her way back up the leaderboard after shooting two birdies and seven pars in her final nine holes.
Due to predicted inclement weather, the second round of play from the Suntree Country Club is set to begin Monday with a 7 a.m. CT shotgun start for all teams.
