Record-Setting Weekend for Baseball vs. High Point

OXFORD, Miss. – The bats awoke in a big way for the Ole Miss baseball team this weekend, as Mike Bianco's Rebels outscored High Point 37-4 on Saturday and Sunday at Swayze Field to win the series.
The Ole Miss offense set or tied two records on Sunday in one of its best offensive outputs for in recent history. The Rebels trounced High Point 12-2 on Saturday and 25-2 on Sunday, each coming in just six offensive innings as the run rule was triggered in both wins.
A disciplined plate approach led Ole Miss to draw a program-record 19 walks in the series finale. The Rebels did plenty with the free baserunners, tying a program record with 25 RBI and racking up 16 hits along the way.
Ole Miss opened Sunday's scoring deluge with an 11-run first inning, the most runs in an inning for the Rebels since hitting that mark vs. LSU in 2018. When the scoring had finished, Ole Miss had its most runs in a game since tallying 25 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in 2019, just three shy of the program record of 28.
Over the weekend, Ole Miss clubbed 10 home runs: one on Friday, four on Saturday and five on Sunday, its most in a series since 2020 against Princeton and just the second time in the Bianco era the Rebels have hit double-digit homers in a weekend.
Jackson Ross led the way for Ole Miss, earning SEC Player of the Week Honors from D1Baseball after hitting .727 with four home runs and 11 RBI.
The Rebels return to action Tuesday against Little Rock at 4 p.m. CT for the first of two midweek games. Missouri State comes to town for a 4 p.m. CT first pitch on Wednesday. Then this weekend comes the biggest non-conference tilt on the 2024 slate against a preseason top 25 team in Iowa.
