OXFORD, Miss. – Following a third-place finish at the GARC Championships, two Ole Miss rifle team members secured all-conference honors.
Both Kristen Derting and Lea Horvath received recognition in all three disciplines: smallbore, air rifle, and combined. That amounts to 11 total in Derting's career and 12 overall for Horvath. Averaging above a 580 in smallbore and an 1175 in combined earned the two All-GARC Honorable Mention in those events.
Horvath also earned an honorable mention in air rifle, averaging 593.3. The 2022 GARC Shooter of the Year is going to her fourth straight NCAA appearance and coming off her second-best aggregate match score of the season at the GARC Championships with 1185. Horvath finished in 10th overall at the championships. Horvath has yet to miss an all-conference award in her Rebel career. In addition, Horvath received Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition for the second consecutive season.
Derting's slightly higher average of 593.4 earned her All-GARC Second Team honors in air rifle. The fifth-year senior is also going to her fourth NCAA appearance.
Ole Miss has their eyes set on the NCAA Rifle Championships on March 8-9 in Morgantown, West Virginia.
