Women’s Golf Caps Off Spring Season-Open in Puerto Rico

Rio Grande, Puerto Rico – Ole Miss women's golf closed out the team's spring season-opener at the Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday, as the Rebels ultimately finished 12th after shooting a three-day score of 882 (+7).
The Rebels attempted to shake off the rust following a lengthy three-month break to finish out the tournament with 39 birdies and 169 pars at the Grand Reserve Golf Club.
Caitlyn Macnab wrapped up her week with the highest finish of the Rebel lineup, shooting 2-under par with a team-high ten birdies to settle into a tie for 11th. The Johannesburg, South Africa, saved the best round for last as her third day score of 70 (-2) marked her lowest in Puerto Rico. The junior has now finished in the top 20 of all five tournaments this season.
Senior Andrea Lignell ended the tournament tied for 35th as she accumulated a total score of 220 (+4). The Gothenburg, Sweden, native ranked third among the field and led the Rebel lineup in par-3 scoring (-2).
Natacha Host Husted bounced back from a slow start in the first pair of rounds shooting a round score of 72 (E) on the third day to finish tied for 50th with an overall score of 220 (+8). The junior's round three performance marks the 10th round this season in which Husted shot even or below par.
Justine Fournand and Sophie Linder rounded out the lineup for the Rebels ending the weekend separated by two strokes on the final leaderboard. Fournand finished tied for 69th after logging a 228 (+12) while Linder's score of 230 (+14) saw her finish tied for 75th.
Competing individually for Ole Miss is the tandem of Elle Johnson and Ellen Hume who placed tied for 27th and tied for 65th, respectively. Johnson registered a score of 218 (+2) while Hume capped off her first tournament of the season at 227 (+11).
Next up, the Rebels will travel to Melbourne, Florida for the annual Moon Golf Invitational taking place Feb. 18-20. This will mark the second appearance for Ole Miss in this tournament as the Rebels secured the overall title in 2020.
