COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Ole Miss men's tennis team dropped their second matchup of the weekend against No. 10 Texas A&M on Sunday, with the Aggies winning the match, 5-2, at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Rebels (8-6, 1-2 SEC) fought hard through some tight matches, but the Aggies (12-3, 3-1 SEC) were able to hand the Ole Miss squad its second conference loss of the season.
The biggest win of the day came from Nikola Slavic as he earned his biggest ranked win of the season. Matching up against 36th-ranked Raphael Perot, the senior showed incredible resiliency to come from behind and force a third set after dropping the first. In the tiebreaker, the court one opponents went back and forth before Slavic finally captured the win, 3-6, 7-5, 10-8.
To open the match, the Aggies would strike first behind victories on courts two and three to secure the doubles point and early advantage.
Texas A&M kept their momentum going into singles when Isac Stromberg dropped his matchup to No. 118 Togan Tokac, 6-3, 6-2, and Lukas Engelhardt lost on court four against No. 116 Giulio Perego, 6-3, 6-3.
Carson Baker suffered a loss on court six to clinch the match for the Aggies before the Rebels earned their first point due to Noah Schlagenhauf's opponent retiring. John Hallquist Lithen put up a valiant fight against #64 JC Roddick, but ultimately fell, 6-3, 6-3.
