Ole Miss Baseball: SEC Schedule Breakdown

3/13/2024 | Baseball

OXFORD, Miss. – Opening weekend is here in the Southeastern Conference as Ole Miss baseball is set to open SEC play at home this weekend against No. 20 South Carolina.

Season tickets are still available to cover the SEC slate at OleMissTix.com or by contacting the Ole Miss Ticket Office. Single-game tickets are on sale as well for each SEC contest.

As always, a tough SEC schedule lies ahead, featuring seven ranked teams and eight NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago over the next 10 weeks. Read on to see the upcoming conference road for Mike Bianco and the Rebels.

March 15-17 vs. No. 20 South Carolina
South Carolina had a hot start to the season, winning eight of its first nine games before dropping a pair to in-state rival Clemson. The Gamecocks haven't lost since and will ride a six-game winning streak into Oxford. The two SEC foes have met 67 times. USC holds the all-time lead 39-28 in the series. The two teams last met in Columbia in 2022, where the Gamecocks won the two tail games to take the three-game set.

March 22-24 at No. 5 Tennessee
Tennessee picked up right where it left off after making it to Omaha last year and has lost just once so far this season, dropping its second game of the year in 10 innings to Oklahoma. The Volunteers haven't lost since, reeling off 16 straight victories to enter league play. Ole Miss holds a 50-44 lead in 94 games played between the teams. Tennessee swept the last meeting in Oxford in 2022.

March 29-31 vs. Kentucky
Kentucky was red-hot to start the season, winning 12 of its first 13 and cracking the top 25 before stumbling and dropping two of a three-game series against Kennesaw State last weekend. UK hosted a regional last year before falling to eventual national champion LSU in the Super Regionals. The all-time series favors the Rebels, 54-36, in 90 games. The last meeting was in 2022 in Lexington, where Ole Miss took two of three.

April 4-6 at No. 1 Arkansas
Arkansas ascended to No. 1 in the national rankings entering SEC play. The Razorbacks are 14-2 on the season with one opening-weekend loss in a four-game series against to James Madison and a 14-inning defeat to Oklahoma State. The Hogs have been dominant otherwise and are on a 10-game winning streak heading into conference play. The Rebels and Razorbacks have met 112 times on the diamond, with the Hogs holding a slight 59-53 edge after taking two of three in Oxford last year.

April 12-14, May 1 vs. Mississippi State
A pair of midweek losses to Austin Peay marred the start of the season for Mississippi State, but the Bulldogs turned it around with nine straight wins. MSU fell in the midweek to South Alabama in its final tune-up before SEC play and stands at 12-5. The two in-state rivals have met 474 times with MSU holding a 255-214 advantage in the series. Two weeks after their weekend series, the rivals will meet in Pearl on a Wednesday night for the Governor's Cup.

April 19-21 at Georgia
Led by one of the nation's top players in Charlie Condon, Georgia has had a near-flawless start to the season. Sitting at 17-1, the lone blemish for the Bulldogs was a 19-6 midweek run-rule drubbing at the hands of Michigan State. After a midweek win over Iowa, UGA has won nine straight entering conference play. Ole Miss and Georgia have met 90 times. The Rebels hold a 49-41 lead in the all-time series.

April 25-27 vs. No. 12 Alabama
Alabama started the season 11-0 before falling to No. 23 Dallas Baptist in 12 innings in the finale of the Frisco Classic. The Crimson Tide have just one other defeat, picked up this Tuesday at Southern Miss and are 15-2 as they start their conference schedule. Ole Miss has played Alabama 373 times, more than any team except Mississippi State. The Tide hold the 216-155 lead in the series.

May 3-5 at No. 12 Auburn
Auburn has looked strong to start the year, posting a winning record each weekend and sweeping its midweek games en route to a 13-3 record and unanimous top-20 ranking to start SEC play. Ole Miss and Auburn have met 191 times with the Rebels leading 98-92 in the series. The Tigers closed the gap with a sweep in Oxford last year.

May 10-12 vs. No. 3 Texas A&M
Texas A&M has been arguably the hottest team in the country so far this season, roaring out to a 17-0 start, including two wins over Arizona State, one over USC and one over No. 14 Texas in the midweek. The all-time series is deadlocked at 19 with just 38 all-time meetings between the programs. The Aggies won two of three in Bryan-College Station a year ago.

May 16-18 at No. 2 LSU
Ole Miss closes its SEC slate on the road against the reigning national champion LSU. The Tigers have thus far looked poised to defend their title, going 15-2 to start the year. LSU has been perfect in the midweek and has spread a pair of losses to Stony Brook and Xavier for a winning record each weekend. Ole Miss and LSU have played 351 times, the third-most played series in program history. The Tigers have a 186-164 lead in the series.
