Women’s Golf Earns Fifth Top 5 Finish of Season at Gators Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Ole Miss women's golf team capped off its weekend with a fourth place finish at the Gators Invitational, shooting a 853 (+13) to mark the fifth time this season the Rebels have placed in the top 5.
 
Although the second day of the tournament at the Mark Bostick Golf Course was faced with weather delays, the Rebels were able to complete the remaining holes of the second round and all 18 holes of the third. 
 
As a team, the Rebels ended their time in Florida with the most total pars in the field at 188, while also ranking second in par-5 scoring at 5-under.
 
Caitlyn Macnab remains to be a consistent figure on the Rebel lineup, tallying yet another top 10 finish on the year after tying for sixth place. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native has now finished in the top 10 five times this season, and has placed in the top 20 all seven tournaments this year. 
 
Stringing together second and third round scores of 70 (E) and 73 (+3), Macnab shot 1-under par over the entire weekend after making 9 birdies and 37 pars. The junior also ranked third amongst par-3 scoring in the field, shooting 3-under par. 
 
Justine Fournand saved her best round for last, tying her career-low round score of 67 (-3). With a three-day total score of 211 (+1), the senior also grabbed a spot in the top 20, tying for 11th place. The Erstein, France, native has now garnered four top 20 finishes this season and has shot a team-high seven rounds in the 60s. 
 
Natacha Host Husted also put together a strong final day for the Rebels, shooting a round three score of 71 (+1) to chalk up an overall score of 217 (+7). Securing a tied for 32nd, the junior ranked second-highest in total pars in the field with 41.
 
Sophie Linder and Andrea Lignell rounded out the lineup for the Rebels in Florida, with Linder finishing 8-over and tying for 34th while Lignell logged a score of 221 (+11) to tie for 45th. 
 
Competing individually for the was Nicole Gal who put together an impressive performance for her first tournament this season. After her best show out going 1-over in the third round, Gal secured her career-low 54 score shooting a 218 (+8) across the two days. 
 
The Rebels will now have a quick turnaround for their next tournament, as the team travels to Georgia for the Valspar Augusta Invitational. The tournament is set to take place March 9-10 at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
