Men’s Tennis Takes Down No. 19 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – Ole Miss men's tennis outduels No. 19 LSU, 4-2, for the Rebels first ranked win of the season. The Rebels got off to an impressive start, defeating two top-75 doubles teams.
From the jump, No. 73 George Stoupe and Welsh Hotard fell on court two due to the play of Hallquist Lithen and Baker. Ole Miss (8-5, 1-1 SEC) took the doubles point away from LSU (11-3, 1-2 SEC) with No. 54 Niko Slavic and Lukas Engelhardt's triumph over the 51st-ranked doubles pairing.
Both Rebels' doubles teams earned their 10th dual doubles and 20th overall on the season. The senior duo of Slavic and Engelhardt earned their 10th in just 11 dual matches played.
Slavic and Engelhardt stayed hot in singles, putting the Rebels up on the Tigers, 3-0, in straight-set matches. Slavic gave up a total of three game points on court one in a 6-3, 6-0 final, and Engelhardt tallied a 6-2, 6-3 victory on court four.
LSU attempted to fight back with victories on courts three and five; however, the comeback fell short. Hallquist Lithen sealed the deal with a 7-5, 6-4 win at the second position.
