BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss men's tennis senior Nikola Slavic was named to the SEC Community Service Team, the Southeastern Conference announced on Thursday.

The SEC Community Service Team serves as an annual effort by the Southeastern Conference to highlight the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition. A total of 13 individuals were named to the SEC Community Service Team this season, representing each men's tennis program within the conference.

Through his active engagement with the Special Olympics, Slavic has served as a volunteer attending all competition play and encourages all athletes to reach their full potential through sports and realize the benefits of play-confidence, fun, and strength. The five-year starter has also participated in the Annual Special Olympics Unified Egg Bowl (Flag Football): Ole Miss Special Olympics vs MS State Special Olympics.

The senior volunteered with Feed the Sip in which he assisted in the collection of over 7,000 non-perishable food items to children in Tunica County and Quitman. He also helped with Trunk or Treat, which offers an opportunity for children locally and in the surrounding areas to participate in fun activities and receiving candy.

Niko helped with the Adopt a Basket event in which he assisted with the collection of over 1,300 items to make 107 Holiday food baskets for those less fortunate in the community. Additionally, helping with the Book and Bears initiative, it provided an opportunity for Slavic to assist in the collection of books and bears to help with the holiday gift give away for the university's facilities workers.

Slavic went with his team to do morning carpool where he was able to visit local elementary schools around the area, while greeting children as they exited vehicles in the carpool line and those who were released from their bus rides.

In conjunction with College Football Playoffs, Slavic helped the social responsibility and engagement department celebrate teachers throughout the local and surrounding areas. He also assisted in the collection of over 10,000 water bottles for the city of Jackson, MS, as they battled their city water crisis at the Water Collection Drive.

Finally, during the MS Tornado Relief, Slavic helped collect non-perishable food items, along with hygiene materials to share with those who lost their homes and supplies during the tornado in the Rolling Fork, MS area.

Outside of community service initiatives, Slavic serves as the Men's Tennis team representative on the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) as well as being a member of the Rebels International Committee.
