Madison Scott to Attend USA Basketball 3x3 Women’s National Team Training Camp

4/15/2024 | Women's Basketball

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Coming off of her fourth year at Ole Miss and a First Team All-SEC campaign, women's basketball's Madison Scott has earned an invite to participate in the 2024 USA 3x3 Women's National Team training camp. As one of 17 selected, Scott will work to earn her chance in making the national team for the 2024 Paris Olympics in Springfield, Mass., from April 17-20.

Participating athletes include: Azana Baines, Cameron Brink, Cierra Burdick, Christina Dalce, Blake Dietrick, Allisha Gray, Dearica Hamby, Linnae Harper, Rhyne Howard, Lexie Hull, Kelsey Mitchell, Lucy Olsen, Katie Lou Samuelson, Madison Scott, Hailey Van Lith, Mikaylah Williams and Camille Zimmerman.

Last summer, Scott participated in multiple competitions for Team USA from Europe to South America. Scott assisted the 3x3 U23 Nations League Team to win the FIBA 3x3 Nations League Americas Conference in Chile. She also made three FIBA 3x3 Women's Series stops with the USA U24 squad throughout multiple cities in Europe.

Scott has continued to elevate her game over her four years in Oxford, with the Indian Head, Maryland, native earning First Team All-SEC honors in the 2023-24 campaign for the first time in her career. She also picked up SEC All Defensive honors for the second straight season after pacing the Rebels in rebounds with 6.4 per game.

Posting a standout performance at the Battle4Atlantis earning the tournament's most valuable player after averaging 13.7 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, Scott was named the SEC Player of the Week for the first time in her career. Later on, Scott set a new career-high with an explosive 27 points and 12 rebounds at Florida to once again earn another SEC Player of the Week Nod. With two wins in a season, Scott became the first Rebel to earn multiple SEC Player of the Week honors in the same season since Armintie Price in 2006-07.

The USA Basketball committee will evaluate participating athletes for national team opportunities including the 2024 USA 3x3 Women's National Team, which will compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics; the 2024 USA 3x3 U23 Women's National Team; and teams that will compete on the 2024 FIBA 3x3 Women's Series.

Different than 5-on-5, 3x3 is played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous, as teams "clear" the ball behind the 2-point line following a made basket, defensive rebound or steal. The first team to score 21 points via 1-point field goals or 2-pointers behind the arc is victorious; or if time expires then the team leading wins.
