OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss women's basketball family keeps growing, as head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has announced the addition of Starr Jones, a forward from Arkansas-Pine Bluff to join the Rebel roster for 2024-25.

"Starr is just that… a star! Talented player that will impact our program immediately!" said McPhee-McCuin. "She is versatile and a true competitor! She makes us better immediately and we are excited that she is joining us!"

After sitting out this past season at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Jacobs looks to continue where she left off following two standout seasons at UT Arlington where she was named a two-time conference player of the year. As a redshirt junior, Jacobs was named the Sun Belt player of the year after transferring to UTA after spending two seasons at Temple Junior College. During the 2021-22 season, Jacobs averaged 21.0 points and 6.6 total rebounds per game as she led UTA to a Sun Belt Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

As UTA transitioned to the WAC, Jacobs stellar play remained just as strong as she was named the 2022-23 WAC Player of the Year and earned a spot on the WAC All-Defensive Team. With her accolades, Jacobs became the first two-time conference player of the year in Maverick history. As a redshirt senior, Jacobs finished as the only player in the country to average at least 18 points, eight rebounds, three steals and 2.5 assists per game.

Coming out of Duncanville High School in 2018 as a three-star prospect according to ESPN's HoopGurlz, Jacobs spent her first collegiate season at Houston where she sat out before transferring to Temple. At Duncanville, Jacobs led the team to back-to-back state titles in 2016 and 2017, while averaging 14.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

Jacobs comes to Oxford, as the Rebels are coming off of its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and becomes one of four newcomers to the roster. She joins senior transfer DeeDee Hagemann from Michigan State along with incoming freshmen in Heloisa Carerra and Sira Thienou.
