Eight Straight! Softball Receives Bid to NCAA Lafayette Regional

5/12/2024 | Softball

OXFORD, Miss. – For the eighth consecutive season, Ole Miss received a bid to the NCAA Softball Championship. The Rebels will compete in the Lafayette Regional, set for May 17-19.

As the No. 3 seed in the regional, the Rebels will take on No. 2 seed Baylor for the second straight season on Friday at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN2 in the opening game. Princeton and the host Louisiana join Ole Miss in the Lafayette Regional.

The Rebels are 3-4 all-time against Baylor, earning a pair of wins over the Bears in the Salt Lake City Regional last year. They boast a 4-14 against hosts Louisiana, including a pair over the Ragin Cajuns in the 2019 Oxford Regional, and have never faced off against Princeton.

Ole Miss sits at 31-25 on the year after making a big run over the last three weeks of the season, earning back-to-back series wins over Auburn and No. 8 Arkansas and taking the opening game of the SEC Tournament against No. 25 Kentucky. The Rebels' resume includes seven wins vs. RPI Top 25 teams and 10 against top 50 teams, including the highest-ranked series win in program history over No. 2 LSU.

Receiving its first-ever NCAA Tournament bid in 2016, Ole Miss has earned a spot in the "Big Dance" every season since. The Rebels are 17-15 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, claiming a pair of regional titles in 2017 and 2019.
