OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss men's tennis saw Lukas Engelhardt and Nikola Slavic both receive Academic All-District honors, the College Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday.
The 2024 Academic All-District Men's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes men's tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Both Rebels were among a select few who were chosen to be CSC Academic All-America finalists. The first-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 1.
Engelhardt, who just recently was named the 2024 H. Boyd McWhorter SEC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the 2024 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's tennis and the Ole Miss Outstanding MBA Student Award, has cemented himself as an influential figure both on and off the court. Academically, the Augsburg, Germany, native has garnered a 4.0 cumulative GPA across his undergraduate and graduate schooling and recently graduated with his master's in business administration.
Engelhardt was also named a finalist for the NCAA Walter Byers Graduate Scholarship, the highest graduate honor the NCAA awards. Engelhardt was a 2023 winner of the Taylor Medal, which is the highest academic honor conferred by the University of Mississippi and is only awarded to less than one percent of the Ole Miss student body on an annual basis.
Engelhardt has also won the School of Business Outstanding Undergraduate in Management Student Award, the 2023 NCAA Spring Sports Postgraduate Scholarship, the 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award and has been named to both the 2023 CSC Academic All-American Third Team and the CSC Academic All-District Team.
In his Ole Miss career, Engelhardt is a three-time SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll member, a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, a nine-time Chancellor's Honor Roll selection and he has led the Ole Miss men's tennis team to five straight Chancellor's Cup wins for best team GPA.
In what is now his fifth year with the Ole Miss tennis team, Slavic has been a standout player and person for the Rebels. After graduating with a 3.89 GPA, earning a Bachelor's of Business Administration-Finance, the Stockholm, Sweden, native decided to return back to Oxford and receive his Master's in Business Administration.
Slavic has garnered countless academic honors from both the conference, as well as the university in his time playing for the Rebels. These recognitions include being named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in each of his previous four seasons along with being chosen as an ITA Scholar Athlete in 2020, 2021 and 2023.
Outside of athletics and academics, Slavic is very involved in many community initiatives including Special Olympics, Feed the Sip and acts as the Men's Tennis team representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The senior was one of 13 individuals named to the 2024 SEC Community Service Team for his volunteer work this year.
Along with being an active member in the community, Slavic has helped lead the Ole Miss men's tennis team to win the athletic department's Chancellor's Cup in all five of his seasons at the university. The Chancellor's Cup is awarded to the men's athletic team that posts the highest GPA on the year at Ole Miss.
