Furbush and Lassiter Receive NFCA All-South Region Honors
5/18/2024 | Softball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Ole Miss softball's Aynslie Furbush and Jalia Lassiter were recognized for their 2024 campaign, earning NFCA All-South Region honors.
Voted on by the South Region head coaches, the duo earned spots on the second team with Furbush at the DP/Utility position and Lassiter in the outfield. It marks the third straight year a Rebel has received NFCA All-Region honors and just the fifth time in program history that Ole Miss has had multiple selections (2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022)
Furbush adds All-Region honors to her trophy case after collecting an All-SEC nod last week. Playing her fourth and final season in an Ole Miss uniform, the senior had the best offensive year of her career. She tallied 48 hits, the most in a single season of her career, while ranking second on the team with a .331 average at the plate and leading the offense with 44 RBI (10th in the SEC). Batting cleanup for the Rebels down the stretch, Furbush blasted 12 home runs in 2024, tied for the fourth most in a single season in program history. The Longwood, Florida, native also registered the 100th hit of her career on April 27th. A two-way player, Furbush always found a way to impact the game. In the circle, she picked up four saves while posting a 3.73 ERA in 60.0 innings of work.
Lassiter finds herself on an All-Region team for the second straight season after collecting honors in her freshman campaign a year ago. Just a sophomore, the Atmore, Alabama, product joins Kylan Becker (2017 and 2019), Elantra Cox (2016, 2017 and 2018) and Lauren Grill (2008 and 2010) as the only players in program history with multiple All-Region honors. This season, Lassiter rose the bar, hitting .324 and leading the Rebels with 61 hits (ninth in the SEC), including 19 contests with multiple hits. A key driver of the Ole Miss offense, she scored 34 runs and drove in 29 more. On defense, she shined in center field with a near-perfect fielding percentage with only one error in 77 chances.
