Jaxson Dart Named One of College Football’s Top Gunslingers

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss football fans know how well quarterback Jaxson Dart can sling it, and the numbers show the same as Lane Kiffin's signal-caller was named one of the top 10 gunslingers in college football for 2024.
247Sports used Pro Football Focus' big-time throw and average depth of target metrics to determine the top gunslingers: quarterbacks who take risky throws into tight windows and deliver. Dart landed at No. 6 in the nation and No. 2 among SEC QBs behind Alabama's Jalen Milroe.
The article noted that Dart actually threw five fewer big-time throws in 2024 compared to 2023, but picking his spots paid off in a big way as he halved his interception total from 11 down to just five while throwing for 400 more yards.
Dart threw for 2,974 yards with 20 touchdowns and 11 INTs in 2022. Last year, he was much more efficient, totaling 3,364 through the air with 23 TDs and five picks.
Dart comes back for Year 3 in Oxford as the No. 5 returning quarterback in the nation and No. 3 in the SEC according to PFF metrics. His overall offensive grade of 89.9 ranks just behind Georgia's Carson Beck (92.1), Oregon's Dillon Gabriel (91.9), SMU's Preston Stone (91.3) and Milroe (90.8).
