Aynslie Furbush Named to SEC Softball Community Service Team
5/7/2024 | Softball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A leader on and off the field, Ole Miss senior Aynslie Furbush has been named to the 2024 SEC Softball Community Service Team, announced by the conference office.
In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the Southeastern Conference is once again highlighting a panel of athletes for its annual Community Service Team. All league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004.
Furbush was heavily involved in the community, using her platform as a student-athlete to help Ole Miss collect and package over 7,400 non-perishable food items for its annual Feed the Sip initiative, as well as donate and distribute over 100 Thanksgiving baskets to families in need throughout the Lafayette-Oxford-University Community (LOU) ahead of the holiday to ensure families enjoy a healthy meal.
At schools in the Oxford-Lafayette area, Furbush participated in morning carpool drop off and Reading with the Rebels. The senior also helped with the university's Books and Bears collection drive, collecting new books and bears to donate to the families of Ole Miss faculty.
This past January, Furbush also participated in Ole Miss Athletics' and Oxford Park Commission's NGWSD event. She joined her teammates and other student-athletes in a community-wide meet and greet and game night for local youth girls within the community.
Furbush also enjoys sharing her love for the game of softball. She volunteers with the League of Champions, offering an opportunity for kids to learn more about and grow their softball skills.
Furbush and the Rebels take on No. 25 Kentucky in the first round of the SEC Tournament on Tuesday, May 7, at 6 p.m. CT in Auburn, Alabama. The contest will also be broadcast on national TV, airing on SEC Network.
