Five Takeaways from 2024 Ole Miss Football Kick Time Announcement

6/13/2024 | Football

OXFORD, Miss. – New for the 2024 college football season, the SEC and ESPN announced this week kick time windows for the entirety of this season's schedule, clarifying the road to the College Football Playoff for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss football.

Beating the Heat
Ole Miss fans should be able to beat the heat early in the season. The Rebels avoided 11 a.m. and noon kickoffs for the first four weeks of the schedule. Start times at 6 p.m. CT for Furman, 3:15 p.m. for Middle Tennessee and 6:45 p.m. for Georgia Southern will help fans stay cooler at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium through the non-conference slate.

Morning in the Swamp
Ole Miss football is no stranger to success in The Swamp. The Rebels hold a 6-4-1 all-time record in Gainesville, and they could be set up for another winning day at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Ole Miss won't have to deal with a raucous night-time crowd with an 11 a.m. kick for the key late-season tilt at Florida.

Night in Death Valley
While Ole Miss won't have to deal with a night crowd in The Swamp, the Rebels will have to show their mettle in fight under the lights at LSU. The Oct. 12 rivalry matchup has been set for either a 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. kick. Ole Miss will be looking for its first win in Baton Rouge since 2008.

Flex vs. Georgia
The biggest home game on the schedule for Ole Miss is also its only home game with a time slot to be determined. SEC Championship and College Football Playoff aspirations could be on the line when the Bulldogs come to Oxford on Nov. 9. With a flex slot, Ole Miss could meet Georgia any time between 2:30 and 7 p.m.

Black Friday Egg Bowl
As announced at the end of May, Ole Miss will once again have an exclusive time slot for the Egg Bowl matchup with Mississippi State—thought it'll look a bit different than it has in recent years. The Egg Bowl has been moved from Thanksgiving Day to Black Friday at 2:30 p.m. CT. Plan your shopping trips accordingly.
