OXFORD, Miss. – Head men's golf coach Chris Malloy has inked his first addition of the off-season by keeping it within the Rebel family, signing the brother of rising sophomore Collins Trolio, with Cohen Trolio coming to Oxford from LSU.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Cohen to our family. He not only is a world class player, but an even better young man that Rebel Nation will love getting to know," said Malloy. "We can't wait to get him to campus and help us in our quest for an NCAA Championship."
Trolio joins the Rebels following three seasons in Baton Rouge, where he impacted an LSU program that has made three consecutive NCAA Regionals. As a freshman, Trolio notched a career-best single season stroke average at 71.30 over 33 rounds. The West Point, Miss., native was named to the All-Freshman SEC team as well as the PING Southeast All-Region team.
As a sophomore, Trolio tallied a 73.47 stroke average through 30 rounds in 10 events and had nine rounds of at least par or better, while this past season he competed in two events for a total of six rounds with a stroke average of 73.83.
During the 2022 SEC Championships, he earned a career-high finish during the stroke play portion, finishing tied for third with a 4-under 206. Trolio's efforts also earned him the honor of the 2022 All-Louisiana Freshman of the Year and named All-Louisiana First Team.
Coming out of Oak Hill Academy, Trolio led the team to four straight state team titles including his first individual state title in 2019 and was named a five-time all-state honoree in Mississippi. Trolio also won the 2021 Mississippi State Amateur with a four-round score of 19-under 269 where he went on to the 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur and finish runner-up.
