OXFORD, Miss. – After spending the last two seasons on the Ole Miss women's basketball staff as a graduate manager, head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has promoted Ashton Hopp to the special assistant to the head coach.
"I'm really excited to have Ashton stay on board with us here in Oxford!" said McPhee-McCuin. "Ashton has the perfect attitude and work ethic that reflects the Ole Miss way!"
Throughout her two seasons in Oxford, Hopp has built and developed the undergraduate student-manager program as well as assist with operations with all daily duties of the program. Hopp has also handled all equipment and gear for the Rebels. She also works on campus with FCA as a campus representative.
A former student-manager for the Kansas men's basketball program, Hopp spent two seasons with the Jayhawks. Throughout the 2020-21 season, Hopp helped with all food operations and was solely responsible for all dinner operations with the team. She assisted with other tasks including practices, game day operations and equipment and gear.
Hopp is also one of the founding members of Grow the Game, created in 2020 to connect both current and former student managers. The organization now has over 300 plus members with the goal of shaping the next generation of coaches by building relationships and advance in their career.
A Waynesville, Mo. native, Hopp graduated from KU in 2021 with a degree in sport management and a minor in business.
