Fischer Fires Bogey-Free 64, Sits tied for Lead After Round One at U.S. Amateur

CHASKA, Minn. – Tom Fischer went low in round one of the 124th U.S. Amateur, shooting six-under, placing him atop the leaderboard after day one. The junior from Birmingham, Alabama went off the No. 10 tee at 2:07 p.m. and shot a bogey-free 64 in his U.S. Amateur debut.

Fischer went out in 31 (-4) birding four of his first nine holes. He found red figures on the par 4 13th to get to one-under before firing three straight birdies to close out his front nine.
He went on to par his next eight holes before making an eagle at the last to shoot 33 coming in. He currently sits atop the leaderboard with fellow amateur Paul Chang of the People’s Republic of China.
Fischer is set to tee off in round two at 8:39 a.m. His teammate Cameron Tankersley will follow him at 8:50 a.m. Michael La Sasso and Kye Meeks draw the afternoon slots at 12:41 p.m. and 1:25 p.m.
