OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss Rifle bolstered its 2024 recruiting class on Monday with the signing of Olympic bronze medalist Audrey Gogniat.
The right-handed shooter out of Le Noirmont, Switzerland, earned a bronze medal in the 10m air rifle competition of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Gogniat recorded a 632.6 mark in the qualifying round, three tenths below an Olympic qualifying record, and proceeded to earn a 230.3 in the final round to solidify her podium finish.
"Audrey is undoubtedly one of the best shooters in the world, and we are very excited that she picked Ole Miss to be her home for the next four years," head rifle coach Rachel Martin said. "She adds a whole new level of competitiveness and fits into the vision Coach Shaner and I are committed to for our team. Audrey will be a great teammate and brings a wealth of knowledge to our current roster."
Prior to Paris, Gogniat claimed a sixth place finish in the 2023 International Shooting Sport Federation's World Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan, earning Switzerland its Olympic quota. She shot 632.2 in the qualifying round and a 166.2 in the finals.
Gogniat has established herself as a capable competitor on the international level. She claimed a medal in the 10m air rifle for the past two European Shooting Championships, a silver in 2023 in Tallinn, Estonia, and a bronze in in Gyor, Hungary, in 2024. She also earned gold in the women's team competition of the 10m air rifle at the 2023 European Games in Wroclaw, Poland.
In total, she's recorded five top-10 finishes at European Championships and eight top-20 finishes in various ISSF national competitions, including three in the top 10.
At the time of her signing, Gogniat ranked No. 4 in the ISSF's 10m air rifle ranking and No. 31 in the 50m rifle three-position.
Gogniat began shooting at seven years old, with her dad, a shooter himself, overseeing her training. Later on, Enrico Friedemann and Olivier Schaffter became her personal coaches, with Daniel Burger acting as her coach for national competitions. As a young adult, Gogniat found success with the Franches-Montagnes shooting society.
