Men’s Tennis Freshman Duo Wins Doubles Draw at SEC Challenge

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- Ole Miss men's tennis concluded their run at the 2024 SEC Challenge in true Rebel style as Matthieu Chambonniere and Benjamin Martin were named the houndstooth draw doubles champions.
 
The freshman duo got to work early and made their collegiate debut a memorable one, ending the weekend with a 2-1 record as a pair.  
 
Noah Schlagenhauf and Isac Strömberg ended their doubles run with a 1-2 record on the weekend. They squared off against some elite competition, including the No. 86 ranked duo of Henry Ruger and Hugo Conquelin from Vanderbilt. 
 
Schlagenhauf found his groove early and dominated the singles courts this weekend. The Rebel upperclassman ended his tournament run undefeated after securing his final win on Sunday against Oklahoma's Hank Trondson, 7-5, 3-6, 11-9. 
 
Chambonniere earned a walkover win over Florida's Francesco Cordova and moved on to defeat Mississippi State's Robert Ferrer 6-0, 6-4 to wrap up his time at the SEC Challenge. The freshman went 3-1 overall on the weekend in singles. 
 
Strömberg and Martin had competitive opponents this weekend and each etched a singles win in the books. 
 
The Rebels will head to Tulsa, Oklahoma next weekend to continue their fall run at the ITA-All American Championships, set to run September 21-29.
