Women’s Basketball to Celebrate 50 Year Anniversary Throughout the 2024-25 Season

OXFORD, Miss. — Dating back to 1974, Ole Miss women's basketball has made its mark across countless lives on and off the court throughout the years, and now Ole Miss Athletics is set to honor and celebrate these men and women for the 50 Year Anniversary of the program throughout the 2024-25 season.

"There are few programs in Ole Miss Athletics with a richer tradition than our women's basketball team. From the Gillom sisters to Van Chancellor to Coach Yo, we have a remarkable story of success that continues to reach new milestones today," said Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Keith Carter. "This season, we look forward to honoring those teams and individuals from the last 50 years that have contributed to our proud legacy."

Throughout the entirety of the 2024-25 season, Ole Miss athletics and women's basketball will honor and recognize many who have contributed to the success and legacy of the program. Select games will also feature giveaway and promo items tied to the 50 year history of the Rebels

Fans also have the opportunity to ensure success over the next 50 years of Ole Miss women's basketball by donating a $50 gift to the Grove Collective in support of the program.

Over 900 program wins, 20 NCAA Tournament appearances, 11 Sweet 16's and 5 Elite 8's, Ole Miss women's basketball has been a key fixture of the University and the Oxford community throughout the last decade. As one of 33 teams to make 20 or more NCAA Tournament appearances, the Rebels have proved their longevity on the national stage.

With 17 First Team All-SEC selections, five All-Americans, four Women's Basketball Hall of Fame inductees, the breadth of Ole Miss can be felt all throughout the game of women's basketball. Throughout the WNBA and internationally, Rebels have made marks all over the professional ranks with seven WNBA draftees and multiple former players and coaches leading teams across the league.

The legacy of Ole Miss women's basketball can not only be seen on the court, but in transforming lives for years to come with hundreds of letterwinners earning a degree from the University of Mississippi and making their mark out in the world as Rebel alums.
