Schlagenhauf Advances to Qualifying Round at ITA-All American Championships

TULSA, Okla.- After a successful first two days at the ITA All-American Championships, Ole Miss men's tennis' Noah Schlagnehauf advances to the singles qualifying round in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Sunday.
On the first day of play in the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, Schlagenhauf, Loan Lestir and Isac Strömberg all saw success in the first matchups of the pre-qualifying round.
Lestir prevailed in his collegiate debut, defeating Nikita Volonski from Grand Canyon in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, to capture his first singles win of the season.
The junior pair of Strömberg and Schlagenhauf took down their opponents in straight sets on Saturday. Strömberg won his opening singles match in Tulsa, 6-4, 6-2, against Duke's Alexander Visser while Schlagenhauf defeated Ohio State's Preston Stearns, 7-6 (3), 6-4.
The Rebels continued play in the second round of pre-qualifiers on Sunday morning. Lestir and Strömberg both fought hard, but ultimately dropped their respective matches which concluded their runs in Oklahoma.
Schlagenhauf had a big day, adding two more wins to the books as he remains undefeated in singles this year. The Nuertingen, Germany, native secured a gritty, 7-6 (8), 7-6 (4), win in his first match of the day against Auburn's Nathan Cox.
After defeating Cox, Schlagenhauf turned around to square off against Constantinos Djakouris from North Carolina. The junior dominated in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, topping the Tar Heel en route to advancing to the qualifying round.
Schlagenhauf is 6-0 in singles on the season and will look to continue his streak in the qualifying round of 16 at the ITA-All Americans Championships on Monday.
