OXFORD, Miss. – Southeastern Conference play begins at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium this week, where No. 5 Ole Miss football will put its 4-0 record on the line in its SEC opener against Kentucky.
We've taken a look at the series history between the Rebels and Wildcats, including Ole Miss' two wins the series in the Lane Kiffin era in this week's series snapshot.
Series Snapshot
The series between the Rebels and Wildcats dates back to a 1944 win by UK in Lexington and has largely gone Ole Miss' way since. The Rebels lead the all-time series 30-14-1 on the field, and only two of Kentucky's wins have come in the last 30 years. Ole Miss is currently on a three-game win streak in the matchup.
Series in Oxford
Ole Miss has dominated the all-time series in Oxford, holding a 9-2 advantage on the field. Kentucky's two wins in Oxford came in 1949 and 1978. The Rebels have won six straight at home against UK.
Lane Kiffin Era Snapshot
Despite having been separated in the East and West Divisions, Ole Miss and Kentucky have already met twice in the Lane Kiffin era, both Rebel victories. Kiffin's squad traveled to Lexington in Week 2 of his first season, where they brought home the first win of the head coach's tenure in Oxford. Kentucky led much of the way in a tightly contested SEC battle, but a missed PAT in overtime led to a 42-41 win for Ole Miss.
Last Meeting
Kentucky came to Oxford ranked No. 7 in the nation in 2022 and left Vaught-Hemingway Stadium with its first loss of the season. The Rebels raced out to a 14-0 lead on Zach Evans and Quinshon Judkins touchdowns in the first quarter before the Wildcats battled back, tying the game at 19 in the third on a Will Levis TD pass to Jordan Dingle. Jonathan Cruz hit one of his two field goals on the day to put the Rebels back out in front late in the third quarter. Levis led UK downfield late looking to steal the win, but a sack fumble by Jared Ivey deep in Ole Miss territory halted the comeback try in a 22-19 final.

Kentucky has one Mississippi native on its roster, Josaih Hayes of Horn Lake, who has played in 42 games for the Wildcats but is expected to miss the season after an Achilles injury in spring ball. Ole Miss has one Kentucky native on its roster, Louisville transfer and Butler High product Jordan Watkins.
