Women’s Tennis Kicks Off Day One of Milwaukee Classic

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Ole Miss women's tennis wrapped up day one of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic Friday with a pair of Rebels advancing to the quarterfinal round.
In doubles, the dominant duo of Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher and Ludmila Kareisová picked up where they left off in the spring, with their first win of the season. The 84th-ranked pair secured their victory in fashion, 6-2, to move onto Saturday's quarterfinals match against Oklahoma's Salakthip Ounmang and Roisin Gilheany.
Leclqecq-Ficher and Kariesová matched their doubles success in singles competition, each reaching the quarterfinals round. They'll face a pair of Purdue Boilermakers in hopes to reach the semis.
Leclercq-Ficher recorded two straight set victories on the day. She claimed her first win, 6-1, 7-5, and followed it with an even more dominant 6-3, 6-2. She will face Juana Larranaga in Saturday's quarterfinals.
Kareisová battled back after losing her first set in the Round of 32 to win the second set, 6-2. The senior continued to excel and took the final set 6-1. She claimed her first straight-set victory of the season against Calissa Dellabarca, 6-2, 6-2, to move onto the quarterfinals. She's set to face Ece Gencer.
Transfer Lucie Petruzelova and junior Emma Kette fell short against Purdue's Juana Larranaga and Ece Gencer, 6-3.
Petruzelova and Kette dropped their respective singles duals. The tournament isn't over for Petruzelova, who will compete in Saturday's consolation bracket.
The Rebels will start day two playing singles at 8 A.M with doubles following suit.
