Women’s Tennis Dominates in Doubleheader

OXFORD, Miss- Ole Miss women's tennis took two victories in its doubleheader against Arkansas State, 4-1, and Tennessee State, 4-0 at the William F. Galtney Tennis Center on Sunday.
Freshman Brooklyn Olson earned her collegiate debut against Tennessee State to start her career as a Rebel. She is now 3-0 in doubles and 1-0 in dual singles for the season.
OM:4 ASU:1
The Rebels had an electric start against the Red Wolves in doubles, winning on the first two courts. Captain pairing Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher and and Ludmila Kareisová set the tone with a straight 6-0 victory in the No. 1 slot. Olson and Rachel Krzyzak put up a final score of 6-1 to secure the doubles point for the Rebels.
The duo of Lucie Petruzelova and Andrea Nova's match was left unfinished, but were in front 5-2 on court three.
In a tight race across the board, four Rebels took an early lead with a first set win. Kareisová and Petruzelova both pull out straight set wins, that set the Rebels up to a 3-1 lead.
No stranger to the pressure, Krzyzak put herself back in the fight after a deficit in set one and ultimately came out on top. To secure the match win for the Rebels, the senior finished the round with a final score of 7-6, 6-1.
Nova was on the way to make a forced third set, but left unfinished 5-7, 5-3. Rebel junior Emma Kette also didn't finish on her court after winning the first set, 7-5, 2-3.

The Rebels did not skip a beat in the second half of the day, and quickly secured the doubles point. Both the duos of Kareisová alongside Leclercq-Ficher and Krzyzak with Olson remained undefeated thus far in a 6-0 sweep on courts one and two.
Pair Petruzelova and Nova were once again on pace to win their match when the doubles point was clinched, leading 4-2 on court three.
Freshman Olson made her first singles debut and did not let it go to waste. The phenom kept momentum high from doubles and kept the 6-0 ball rolling in set one. Without a doubt, Olson continued to remain undefeated after a stellar 6-0, 6-0, victory against Tennessee State's Victoria Cooksey. This marks Olson's first dual singles win in her collegiate career.
All six Rebels locked in their first sets on the court. Kareisová did not let her foot off the gas, and put up the third point for Ole Miss. The senior is undefeated in dual singles thus far, after a 6-0, 6-1, win over Tennessee States' Francisca Gomez-Weiss.
To clinch the match, Nova kept up the straight set trend, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-1 in slot No.5.
Three Rebels were left unfinished in their respective courts, all with a lead in their sets. Petruzelova 6-3, 4-1 on court one, Leclercq-Ficher up 7-5, 0-0 on court two, and Krzyzak left unfinished on court five with a score of 6-2, 5-1.
Up next, Ole Miss will travel to Palo Alto, California to face a series of teams, including Utah on Friday, January 24, face either Stanford or Memphis on Saturday, January 25. Times for these matches will be announced at a later date.
