Men’s Tennis Starts Hot at the Battle on the Plains

AUBURN, Ala. – Ole Miss men's tennis gets off to a hot start at the Battle of the Plains tournament in Auburn, Alabama, for the Rebels went a combined 7-1 on the day.
In the Blue Draw, the Rebels' No. 89 duo of Sophomore Kai Milburn and senior Isac Strömberg started things off as they defeated The University of Troy's pairing of Hiiro Sakamoto and Ausias Martin Melo, 6-2, to secure the advantage of the mini duel.
In singles, Strömberg defeated Sakamoto, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 to win the mini duel. The duo then advanced to the next round of the Blue Draw and defeated Jules Caby and Juan Accossato of South Alabama, 6-2 in doubles. The win secured the advantage for Strömberg and Milburn, and they will take on Caby and Accossato in singles tomorrow to finish the mini duel.
On the other side of the Blue Draw bracket, the other Ole Miss doubles pair of sophomores Matthieu Chambonniere and Loan Lestir faced off against Luis Sandoval and Mako Milosavljevic of Memphis and defeated them, 6-4.
The pair then split up for singles and won their mini duel as Lestir defeated Sandoval, 6-2, 6-4, and Chambonniere defeated Milosavljevic, 6 (5)-7 (7), 6-3, 7 (7)-6 (3).
They then moved on to the next round of the Blue Draw and took on Nathan Pitts and Yannic Nittman of Clemson in doubles for their next mini duel. The duo defeated Pitts and Yannic, 6-3, to secure the advantage of the mini duel.
Tomorrow, Chambonniere and Lestir will compete in singles against Pitts and Yannic to finish out the mini duel.
