Postgame Quotes vs. Florida

OLE MISS HEAD COACH LANE KIFFIN
Opening Statement:
"First, I want to thank our fans. I thought that the atmosphere was electric from the beginning. Throughout our warm-ups and coming out of the tunnel, seeing it packed like that was awesome. I think players feed off of that. We had a really good start early, got up 10-0, and felt that in the fourth quarter. So, really cool. I thought the player and the student relationship, and going down there at the end, and the players having fun with students, is awesome. And whatever that makes, 35-3 or something at home if you've been here, if you've failed a few classes and been here for five and a half years now as a student. We didn't play really well defensively at all in the first half and gave up a big pass play, but we really shut them out in the second half. I think a lot of credit goes to the players, to the assistant coaches for regrouping. And as opposed to the first half, credit to forcing the ball in front of us and just making them earn it and see if we can get them to throw us a pick at some point. So, I thought our defense was great in the second half. The offense did a lot of really good things. We left the ball at the one and the three on fourth downs down there. So, obviously, 14 points there, and we scored another time, and a lineman is just watching the play over there and gets called downfield. So, that got taken off the board. But outside of that 5-5 in the field on fourth downs and then defensively to stop them on two fourth downs, I think it's a really huge part of the game."

On Kewan Lacy:
"We gave him the ball 31 times. So, you know, he's elite, and really, I think in the second half of the season, as you look, he's got stronger, which is highly unusual. You know, he leads the SEC, I think, in carries by far, which he might lead the NCAA now. Really, that's unusual because he's had wear and tear throughout the year. Really, maybe Derrick Henry's the only one we've had like that that got stronger, and he carried about 90 times in the Iron Bowl and SEC Championship against Florida, actually in a seven-day span, and I think he could do something like that. He just seems to get stronger. He plays almost every snap during the game and is just a really elite player because usually your fast guys like him can't stay durable and run the way he does between the tackles and short yardage.

On if the bye week will benefit Ole Miss:
"I do, especially with Dae'Quan [Wright], and if you watched on TV, you'll see that he has one shoulder in there. So, he can't even block. Probably our fault for putting him back on that last one because I talked to him. He's like, 'I'll catch it, Coach.' I'm like, 'You can't raise your arm.' And he's like, 'I will.' So he went back in and couldn't really raise it or catch it. So, probably my fault for putting him in there, but he's very critical. So hopefully you can get some rest with him and get him back. And then [Antonio] Kite came back, which is big for us. And then he rehurt himself. So this is a good time for the bye.

On Trinidad Chambliss' performance tonight and this season:
"Trinidad's [Chambliss] been awesome. I mean, you said it here, he hasn't even been here a year. I just got here this summer. I mean, another 300-yard game against, like I said, a good defense that blitzed just a lot today and gave us some issues with that. So, we had to pop some runs into those pressures on third down, like you saw later in the game. Trinidad [Chambliss] made a lot of really critical plays. Obviously, missed the easy throw. But he makes the other touchdown with the lineman downfield over there that obviously had nothing to do with Trinidad [Chambliss]. He made a great play on that. So, he's been awesome. I think it's an amazing story. And really kind of like his last year, the guy didn't start at the beginning of the season where he was at and won the national championship. So, now he's starting here."

On the student section chanting "We want Lane":
"I mean, it was just a cool atmosphere, like I said, during the game, you know. The walk was awesome. So, I think it's good, you know, like I've always said, I wish our fans would be the way they are at LSU again because they hate LSU. So, I guess we got them to hate Florida this week, so they came with a little different, not Mississippi nice like they do sometimes, so that was really cool. At the end of the game with the student section and Kewan [Lacy], that was amazing."

OLE MISS S WYDETT WILLIAMS JR.
On his interception:
"Just watching films and running to the ball. Once you run to the ball, good things happen. And thank you to my teammate for tipping that ball because without him, I wouldn't be able to get that tip. Just everybody giving great effort."

On Ole Miss' first half versus second half defense:
"We really just came more together as a team. The biggest thing today was about belief. We had to believe that you could do it. That was one of the things that was said in the locker room. We came together as a team and we did it."

On if Florida's offense did anything to surprise them:
"No, we knew they were going to try and take shots with the ball. So, we just had to play great in coverage."

On what it was like playing tonight after last year's loss in Gainsville:
"It was just amazing. Especially watching the game last year on the television. I was at ULM before, but now I am actually playing in it and able to get that dub back for kicking us out of the playoffs last year. It is just an amazing feeling to celebrate with my teammates, and I'm honored."

OLE MISS RB KEWAN LACY
On how the offensive line allowed him to play so well:
"They just came out there with the right mindset: dominate. You know, we put in a lot of hours into this, so, you know, it felt good going out there and showing it."

On the atmosphere going into this game:
"It was amazing, I wish I could see that every game, you know, fans coming out there with great energy. It just motivates us and gives us an extra little push and boost."

On the message going into the locker room down at halftime:
"We come out there with the same mindset, every game, you know. If we're losing or winning, just go out there like it's 0-0, play the next play."

On his reaction breaking two school records today:
"It felt great. I put in a lot of work, even when I was a little kid, but, you know, I was still focused on the win, trying to get the win."

OLE MISS QB TRINIDAD CHAMBLISS
On his mindset after the interception:

"Just a bad mistake by me. I didn't see the defensive end drop out. Things are going to happen in games but I just can't get too high or too low. Just have to have that next play mentality."

On continuing to improve each game:
"It's just about taking points from each game and continuing to grow. Need to clean up that interception and the bad pass I threw to Trey [Harrison Wallace III] at the goal line. I think I had a great night tonight. Better than that last night game for sure."

On his favorite part of the season:
"Favorite part has probably been the process, and how we've grown into our identity. At Ferris State, I was there for a while, so I kind of knew what the standard was and how the culture was there. It's really cool to see how it is here at Ole Miss."

On expectations of the Egg Bowl:
"I knew of the Egg Bowl before I came here. It's a big rivalry and they take it serious. Having a bye week allows us to get a head start on film and seeing how they operate in all three phases. Our coaching staff does a great job of preparing us. Any rivalry game is going to be intense and we just can't get caught up in the emotions of the game. We have to go out and play our ball and control what we can control."
