OXFORD, Miss. – Following a historic upset over No. 2 TCU, Ole Miss Rifle has earned the No. 1 ranking in the nation for the fourth time in program history, the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) announced.
The Rebels (3-1, 2-1 PRC) scored the second highest aggregate mark in program history against TCU on Sunday in Fort Worth with a 4744 aggregate. Last time the Rebels were ranked No. 1 in the country was in November 2022, and the first times were both in 2020.
Against TCU, Ole Miss had the fifth-highest smallbore and second-highest air rifle scores program history. These marks propelled Ole Miss to the top spot in the country.
Two Rebels, Audrey Gogniat and Gracie Dinh, are top 10 shooters in the country according to aggregate averages. The top female shooter in the country, Gogniat's 1191.0 average is second overall, and Dinh's 1185.3 average is eighth.
With all the momentum behind them, the Rebels will travel to face No. 1 Nebraska and No. 10 Air Force in a three-team tournament hosted by Nebraska next week. The following day, Ole Miss goes head-to-head with Air Force to cap the fall portion of the regular season. Smallbore sighters will begin at a time to be announced at a later date, with the matches taking place on Nov. 22-23.
