ORLANDO, Fla. – Ole Miss Women's Tennis Emily Welker and Andrea Nova are off to a strong start at the NCAA Singles Championship in Orlando, Fla.
Welker continued in singles play on Wednesday morning, after she advanced from the first round of the tournament on Tuesday. On Wednesday, she faced off against No. 45 Valeria Ray of Vanderbilt in the Round of 32. Welker recreated the past, for she defeated Ray once again, 6-2, 6-1, to advance to the Round of 16 and secured the crown of an NCAA Singles All-American. Welker became the first NCAA Singles All-American for Ole Miss since Arianne Hartono in 2018.
The success for the Rebels didn't just stop in singles play, for Welker and Nova paired up for the first round of doubles play on Wednesday night after Welker's singles matches of the day concluded.
Welker and Andrea Nova played against No. 48 Na Dong and Zuzanna Kubacha of Baylor in the Round of 32. The Rebel duo would finish the day defeating Dong and Kubacha, 6-4, 6-3.
