Rifle Finishes Second in Three-Team Tournament

11/22/2025 | Rifle

LINCOLN, Neb. – Ole Miss' top-ranked rifle team split the three-team tournament on Saturday morning, scoring 4712 points as a team to beat No. 14 Air Force but fall short against No. 7 Nebraska.

The Rebels (4-2, 3-2 PRC) saw two student-athletes, Audrey Gogniat and Gracie Dinh, finish in the top five among individual competitors. Gogniat earned her third gold medal of the season in air rifle, firing an impressive 599. The sophomore duo finished second and fifth, respectively, in individual aggregate scoring.

Nebraska (12-0) remains undefeated with a 4743-aggregate score, mostly off the back of a staggering 2364 mark in smallbore. The Falcons (5-9) totaled 4705 points and failed to breach 300 center shots.

The Rebels held the second spot for the entirety of today's match, beginning directly after smallbore in the first relay. Nebraska had built a sizable lead that Ole Miss could not overcome. Oppositely, the Rebels held firm in air rifle and finished just four points below the Cornhuskers.

Gogniat and Regan Diamond highlighted the first relay's efforts in smallbore. The duo scored 586 and 584, respectively, finishing fourth and sixth in the relay. They finished the day sixth and ninth overall in the event, as Dinh, who also shot a 586, slid between at seventh in the second relay.

In air rifle, Gogniat returned to form after a relatively off week against TCU last Sunday. The sophomore sharpshooter fired a 599 in the event to take the top spot for the day. In the second relay, Dinh began the event with 23 straight bullseyes, ultimately finishing with a 594 score. She finished fifth overall, while Jordan de Jesus' 593 helped her earn seventh.

Ole Miss is back in action tomorrow morning as it faces Air Force in a head-to-head, neutral site match. Smallbore sighters are set for 8 a.m. CT.
