Women’s Tennis Begins June Stewart Invitational and Continues ITA Sectionals

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss kicks off a busy weekend participating at the ITA Sectionals in Baton Rouge, La. and the June Stewart Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
Following Thursday's victory, Welker faced off against Taly Licht of Georgia Tech in the second round. Welker would defeat Licht, 6-4, 6-4, to move on to the next round. Welker will face No. 45 Valeria Ray of Vanderbilt on Saturday at 11 a.m.
A trio of Rebels participated in the first day of the June Stewart Invitational today, which is hosted Vanderbilt University.
In singles, Ole Miss was matched up against three opponents from Kentucky. Riley Crowder picked up the win against Mariana Fudoric, 7-5, 6-0. Andrea Nova faced Asuncion Jadue, losing, 3-6, 4-6. Brooklyn Olson played Reese Sager, losing 2-6, 3-6.
In doubles, Andrea Nova and Brooklyn Olson represented Ole Miss against the No. 12-ranked duo from Vanderbilt, Celia-Belle Mohr and Sophia Webster. Nova and Olson would lose 2-6.
