Mark Beyers Becomes First Women’s Tennis Coach to Reach 300 Career Wins at Ole Miss
2/17/2025 | Women's Tennis
OXFORD, Miss- Ole Miss women's tennis head coach Mark Beyersmade program history over the weekend, becoming the first Rebel coach to record 300 wins at the helm.
Ole Miss defeated Alcorn State, 7-0, in the second match of Sunday’s doubleheader to give Beyers three generations of victories as the Rebel’s head coach. He became the only active coach in the SEC to reach that mark exclusively at their current institution. Beyers, who became Ole Miss’ winningest head coach in 2019, becomes the only Rebel coach to eclipse the 300-win mark.

The win also marked No. 350 in his overall coaching career, after claiming 50 in three seasons with Armstrong Atlantic State prior to joining Ole Miss. He has the 23rd most wins among all active NCAA Division I Coaches and sits atop the SEC in that category.
Beyers’ storied Ole Miss career began in 2002 after a three-year tenure at Armstrong Atlantic State. Now in his 24th season in Oxford, Beyers has led the Rebels to 13 NCAA Tournaments, coached 17 players in the NCAA Individual tournament and shaped the careers of eight All-Americans.
Arianne Hartono’s development into an NCAA individual champion has been a highlight of Beyers’ career at Ole Miss. Beyers helped coach her to becoming Ole Miss’ first ever singles champion in 2018. That season, Hartono won 37 singles matches, including 22 in dual competitions.
At the beginning of his Ole Miss career, Beyers coached Mira Radu at the tail end of her career. Radu was an All-American in her final two years as a Rebel under Beyers and became the fourth Rebel to ever eclipse 100 career singles victories.
While at Ole Miss, Beyers is a three-time ITA South Region Coach of the Year. He most recently earned the accolade in 2018 while assisting Hartono in her successful senior year. That season, Ole Miss won 22 matches during the spring and reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in program history and the second time under Beyers.

The first time Ole Miss did so was in 2010, Beyers’ first time receiving ITA’s regional coaching award. The Rebels went 17-6 and captured the SEC West Championship and reached the SEC tournament semifinals for the second year in a row. The Rebels ended the year ranked No. 17 in the nation, posted their best finish in the SEC (second) since 1999 and their best league record since 2000.
Kristi Boxx and Karen Nijssen earned All-America honors that year, while Boxx was one of only nine players in the nation to earn the honor in both singles and doubles. Laura van de Stroet and Connor Vogel joined Boxx and Nijssen on the All-SEC team.
Beyers’ most recent accomplishments are highlighted by the careers of Ludmila Kareisová and Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher. The 2024-25 team captains are in their final seasons at Ole Miss and have established themselves as capable competitors on the court. The duo, alongside 2024-25 senior transfer Lucie Petruzelova, reached the 2025 NCAA Individual Tournament. Three players to reach the individual tournament is the most by an Ole Miss squad since 2000.
Kareisová reached the 50-win mark in doubles with Leclercq-Ficher earlier this season, with the latter sitting one win away from that mark entering Sunday’s conference opener against LSU. Two of the most dependable Rebels, on and off the court, Beyers has helped foster a culture at Ole Miss that transcends tennis.
Ole Miss and Beyers will look to continue the tradition of winning against LSU on Feb. 23 at 11 a.m.
