Men’s Basketball Falls Wednesday Night at No. 1 Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – Ole Miss (19-9, 8-7 SEC) dropped its contest at No. 1 Auburn (26-2, 14-1 SEC) 106-76 Wednesday night at Neville Arena.

Auburn would control the offensive end of the floor hitting 8-of-10 to start the game including four triples. After trailing 36-14 with 8:05 to play, the Rebels began to chip away at the Auburn lead. Ole Miss hit six of their final eight shots and were led by Sean Pedulla and Matthew Murrell who combined for 21 first-half points on 6-of-8 shooting.

Ole Miss would cut the deficit to six with 2:09 to play before halftime but Auburn was able to push the lead back to double digits, leading 50-40 at the break.

The Rebels would cut the Auburn lead to eight to start the second half but Auburn would push the lead back to double digits for the remainder of the contest.

Five Rebels scored in double-figures for Ole Miss led by Sean Pedulla with 14 points, who added four assists.
 
Auburn was led by Johni Broome with 24 points as the Tigers shot 59.6 percent for the game.
 
Ole Miss returns home and welcomes new SEC opponent Oklahoma (17-10, 4-10 SEC). Tipoff in the SJB Pavilion is slated for 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
 
NOTABLES
  • Ole Miss took 31 trips to the free throw line, converting 23-of-31 from the charity stripe.
  • Sean Pedulla has now led Ole Miss in scoring 10 times this season.
  • Pedulla and Dre Davis each pulled down four rebounds to lead the Rebels.
