Women’s Golf Secures Third Top-2 Finish of the Season at the Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – No. 19 Ole Miss women’s golf capped off an outstanding weekend at the Puerto Rico Classic, finishing tied for second in an 18-team field consisting of seven squads who are ranked in the top 25.
On a day that only four of the 18 teams shot even or below par, the Rebels tallied a 288 (E) to earn a three-round score of 858 (-6) on Tuesday.
The Rebels led the field in par-5 scoring, going -12 at the Grand Reserve Golf Club, while also ranking second in total birdies (42) and third in pars (186), to notch their third top 2 finish in the 2024-25 season.

Caitlyn Macnab and Sophie Linder led the Rebels, each tallying a 54-hole score of 215 (-1) to tie for 11th. In the final round, Macnab shot 2-over to help keep the Rebels in the top 3 overall and secure her 28th career top 20 finish.
The Rebel’s rising star in Linder also had an outstanding showing in Puerto Rico, ranking third in par-3 scoring and total birdies (12). The sophomore notched her fifth top 20 finish in her young career and second of the season.
Not far behind the leading duo was Filippa Sundquist and Nicole Gal, who each shot even par throughout the three rounds to share a tie for 18th. Sundquist matched her first-round score of 71 (-1) on the final day of play, shooting a spotless back nine with eight pars and one birdie. This marked the Rebel’s third top 20 finish of the season and her seventh round even or below par.
Gal saved her best round for last, tying a career-best 68 (-4) to jump 27 spots up the leaderboard on the final day. The junior has strung together three top 20 finishes and earned her sixth round below par this season.

Rounding out the lineup for the Rebels was freshman Kajsalotta Svarvar, who shot a 54-hole score of 222 (+6) and tied for 46th.
Competing individually for Ole Miss, Larissa Carrillo finished off the spring opener with a stellar 71 (-1) third round score. The freshman earned her fourth round below par and secured a share for 28th place in her fourth collegiate tournament.
The Rebels will be back in action for the Moon Golf Invitational, set to run Feb. 16-18, in Melbourne Fla. at the Suntree Country Club.
