Two Rebels to Participate in SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Council Meetings

2/7/2025 | Football, Athletics, Volleyball

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Twenty-eight members of the Southeastern Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), including two Ole Miss representatives, will gather for an annual meeting Friday and Saturday at the SEC offices in Birmingham.

Meeting attendees included representatives from the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in volleyball's Mokihana Tufono and football's Tyler Banks.

The meeting will serve as an opportunity for the student-athletes to engage with campus leaders and conference office staff. Along with Student-Athlete Leadership Councils for football and men's and women's basketball, SAAC provides a conduit of communication to the conference office on issues related to student-athlete experience, student-athlete wellness and playing rules.

TJ Dottery represented Ole Miss at the SEC Football Leadership Council's two-day meeting last weekend, and Madison Scott and Robert Cowherd both attended the Basketball Leadership Council meetings during the summer. A joint meeting of SAAC and leadership council members is held in the summer.

Agenda items for the SEC SAAC meeting include a conversation with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, a presentation to equip student-athletes with strategies to handle conflicts, a review of NCAA and SEC legislative items, and a discussion on SAAC campus programming.
