SUNSET, S.C. – The Ole Miss women's golf team opened play at the Clemson Invitational with a 294 (+6) on Friday during the first round of action in Sunset, S.C.

The No. 14/15 Rebels sit in ninth place after 18 holes at The Reserve at Lake Keowee.

Caitlyn Macnab paced Ole Miss with a first round 3-under (69) on Friday and is tied for sixth place individually. Macnab got off to a quick start with back-to-back birdies on the first two holes of the day. The senior from Johannesburg, South Africa, had similar results on the first two holes after the turn, making birdie on No. 10 and 11. Macnab leads the Rebels and ranks sixth in the field with five birdies through the first round of play.

After three bogeys in the first five holes, sophomore Sophie Linder rebounded with a solid back nine and carded a 73 (+1). The Carthage, Tennessee, native currently sits tied for 35th. At the turn, Linder was 3-over, but a birdie on No. 11 and 13 helped the sophomore get back on track and finish 1-over on the day.

Freshman Kajsalotta Svarvar ended her first round with a 3-over, 75, and is tied for 55th. Svarvar is coming off a successful match play showing at the Old Barnwell Derby in which she went a perfect 3-0, including a win over the 32nd-ranked collegiate player in the country.

Nicole Gal and Filippa Sundquist rounded out play for the Rebels, both shooting 5-over (77) during the first round of action. The Ole Miss duo is currently tied for 69th individually.

Due to rain expected in the area later in the weekend, play has changed to 27 holes on Saturday and then the final nine holes of the tournament on Sunday. The Rebels will begin second round of play Saturday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT.
