Aliyah Binford Named SEC Pitcher of the Week

OXFORD, Miss. – After recording the first solo no-hitter by a Rebel since 2014, Ole Miss softball's Aliyah Binford has been named the SEC Pitcher of the Week, as the conference announced on Monday.
Binford is the second Rebel to take home a weekly honor in 2025, after Mackenzie Pickens was named the SEC Freshman of the Week last week. Binford is the first Rebel pitcher to win the award since Makenna Kliethermes on Mar. 19, 2024.
The New Braunfels, Texas, native etched her name in the record books in the opening weekend of action at the new Ole Miss Softball Stadium, becoming the first person to hit a home run and throw a no-hitter in the new venue.
Binford went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA over two complete game shutouts in the circle, striking out 10 batters, while also hitting .294 with two home runs and six RBI. Binford's first start of the week was a one-hit shutout of Nicholls on Friday, before her no-hitter against Murray State on Saturday, when she struck out eight.
Binford's no-hitter was the first solo-hitter by any Rebel since Carly Hummel in 2014 and the first no-hitter of any kind at Ole Miss since a combined no-hitter by the Rebels in 2022.
The two-way star has allowed just one run over her last three starts, going the distance in all three. Binford is now 3-0 with a 1.22 ERA (34.1 IP) over seven appearances, while also hitting .364 with 11 extra-base hits and 20 RBI.
The Rebels are set to open SEC play this weekend, welcoming No. 11 Arkansas to town for three games, beginning with the opener on Friday at 6 p.m. CT. Tickets remain on sale and are available here.
