Women’s Golf, Gal Claim Third Place at Gators Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Ole Miss women's golf team wrapped up play in Florida on Saturday with a third place finish at the Gators Invitational.
The 14th-ranked Rebels shot a 290 (+10) during the third and final round at Mark Bostick Golf Course to finish at 13-over for the weekend to secure their fourth top-3 team finish this season.
Nicole Gal led the way for the Rebels, finishing out her tournament with a third round 72 (+2) to tie for a career-best third place individually at 208 (-2). For the second straight round, the junior got her day started with a birdie on the par-4 No. 1. Gal finished second in the field in both par-3 (2.87) and par-4 (3.97) scoring.
Caitlyn Macnab and Kajsalotta Svarvar were two more Rebels to place inside the top 15 as the duo finished the 54-hole tournament at 214 (+4) and tied for 13th place overall. Macnab and Svarvar both finished fourth in the field with 38 pars.
Macnab, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, wrapped up play with a 2-over, 72, on Saturday and now has finished inside the top 20 in every tournament this season.
Svarvar also carded a 72 (+2) during her third and final round. The 13th place showing was the second-best performance of her young career for the freshman from Halmstad, Sweden.
Larissa Carrillo was the final counting score for the Rebels as the freshman shot 4-over (74) during the final round of play. Carrillo finished at 11-over during the three-day event and tied for 31st place.
Sophie Linder rounded out the rotation for the Rebels on Saturday, shooting an 8-over, 78, during the final round, finishing in 38th place at 223 (+13) for the tournament.
The Rebels will be back in action March 17-18 for the Old Barnwell Derby Match Play, in Aiken, S.C., at the Old Barnwell Golf Club.
