Children's of Mississippi Kid Coach: Cason Hughes

Kid Coach is a partnership between Children's of Mississippi and the Ole Miss Rebels to salute pediatric patients. Their inspirational stories remind us just how truly courageous these young people are.
This week's Children's of Mississippi Kid Coach is Cason Hughes of Pearl, MS.
Two years ago, a large growth developed on Cason's head above his left eye. During an initial visit to the ER, he was told it should go away on its own in a few days. The knot never went away, so his mother took him to the ER at Children's of Mississippi. This time, after a CT and MRI, doctors discovered a dangerous infection in his skull called a Pott's Puffy Tumor. Cason had emergency brain surgery by a pediatric neurosurgeon to drain the infection, and treatment with intravenous antibiotics followed.
Thankfully, Cason fully recovered and is now doing great! He is a very active 15-year-old with a great sense of humor guaranteed to make you laugh. He is into riding horses, fishing, spending time with family and friends, running and researching truck building.
