OAKMONT, Pa. – This Thursday Michael La Sasso and Cameron Tankersley will tee it up in one of the most formidable tests of golf at the 125th U.S. Open at Oakmont.
It will be the first major championship appearance for both La Sasso and Tankersley. The duo accounts for two of the 15 amateurs in the field this week.

NBCUniversal (NBC, USA Network, Peacock) will provide live broadcast coverage of all four rounds of the 125th U.S. Open Championship.
Oakmont will host the championship for a record 10th time in 2025, three times more than any other club. It will also be the club's 17th USGA championship, which ranks one behind fellow Pennsylvania venue Merion Golf Club for the most all time.
Henry Clay (H.C.) Fownes designed Oakmont to challenge the best golfers in the world and that philosophy hasn’t changed since Oakmont member S. Davidson Herron defeated Bob Jones in the championship match of the 1919 U.S. Amateur.
Oakmont Country Club will be set up at 7,372 yards and will play to a par of 35-35–70. The yardage for each round of the championship will vary due to course setup and conditions.
The last amateur to win the U.S. Open was John Goodman back in 1933. The last winner to win the U.S. Open on their first attempt was Francis Ouimet back in 1913.
Tankersley punched his ticket on May 19, posting (134, -8) in a Monday final qualifier at Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas. In round one, he carded three-under 68 to sit T18 after 18 holes. Needing to make a charge up the leaderboard, he did just that, posting a final round of five-under 66.
Tankersley would birdie the last at 18 to reach eight-under for the qualifier and finished tied for fourth.

La Sasso earns his first U.S. Open start after claiming the NCAA Division I individual title on May 26 by two strokes at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa's North Course, in Carlsbad, California. La Sasso became the second Rebel to win this prestigious title, following Braden Thornberry in 2017.
He led Ole Miss 10 statistical categories throughout regular and postseason play and tallied a 69.48 scoring average which marked the lowest in a season by a Rebel in program history. He is currently ranked No. 3 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
The moments you dream of.
