Football Takes Down No. 13 Missouri on Homecoming, 31-3

10/17/2026 | Football

OXFORD, Miss. – No. 9 Ole Miss (5-1, 3-1) defeated No. 13 Missouri (5-2, 2-2) in its 99th Homecoming game, 31-3, inside Vaught-Hemmingway Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Trinidad Chambliss cracked Ole Miss' all-time top 10 list for career passing yards. He also recorded his 19th consecutive game with a touchdown pass which ties for the second-most in program history with Matt Corral. Chambliss reached the endzone four times with three scores through the air and one on the ground.

Kewan Lacy eclipsed 100 rushing yards for the first time since the 2026 CFP Semifinals against Miami with 122, as Ole Miss out-rushed Missouri, 257-to-39. It was also the first time Ole Miss had two runners each rush for 100 yards since Arkansas in 2022, as Makhi Frazier ran for 101.

The victory marked Ole Miss' first against Mizzou since 1974, while head coach Pete Golding improved to 5-2 all-time against ranked opponents.

The Rebels won their 15th consecutive home game, which gives them the second-longest active streak in the FBS. Ole Miss also improved to 80-17-2 all-time in homecoming games in Oxford.

Offensive Leaders
Chambliss went 20-of-36 through the air for 241 yards and four total touchdowns. Lacy added a season-high 122 yards on 16 carries while Makhi Frazier set his career-high in rushing yards at Ole Miss with 101 on 15 attempts. The Rebels rushed for 6.7 yards per carry.

Ole Miss had four receivers with three or more catches, as Caleb Cunningham led the way with three catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. Caleb Odom notched four receptions for 37 yards and a score, while Horatio Fields and Traylon Ray recorded 40-plus yards apiece.

Defensive Leaders
Sharif Denson led the Rebels with nine total tackles, six solo and a tackle for loss. Landon Barnes recorded his first career interception. Will Echoles stuffed the stat sheet with five tackles, two pass break ups and a sack. Tah'j Butler registered seven tackles, five solos and a quarterback hurry.

First Quarter
The Rebel offense sputtered on its opening drive, ending the possession with an Oscar Bird punt. Former Ole Miss quarterback Austin Simmons led Missouri on a 10-play, 75-yard drive, capped by Blake Craig's 27-yard field goal to give the Tigers an early lead.

Ole Miss responded on its next possession as Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebel offense moved downfield to reclaim the lead. Chambliss connected with Caleb Odom on a 10-yard touchdown pass with 5:42 remaining in the quarter. It was Odom's second touchdown reception of the season. Ole Miss led 7-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Second Quarter
The Rebels and Tigers traded punts to open the second quarter. Chambliss and company then orchestrated a seven-play, 61-yard drive that culminated in a 21-yard touchdown pass to Horatio Fields. It was Chambliss' second touchdown of the game.

Missouri's special teams gave the Tigers favorable field position with a kickoff return to their own 42-yard line. Simmons capitalized, finding former Rebel Cayden Lee for a 43-yard strike on third-and-long to extend the drive. However, the Ole Miss defense held firm in the red zone, and Craig missed his second field-goal attempt of the game.

Chambliss added his third touchdown pass of the afternoon, connecting with Caleb Cunningham to cap a 10-play, 80-yard drive. The score extended the Ole Miss lead to 21-3 with 2:13 remaining in the first half. Missouri's final drive of the quarter fizzled out at midfield and Ole Miss took an 18-point lead into half.

Third Quarter
After a punt, the Missouri defense forced Lacy to fumble, giving the Tigers possession near midfield. The Ole Miss defense responded on the ensuing drive, turning Missouri away once again by stopping Simmons on fourth down. The teams traded punts on their next possessions, and Oscar Bird pinned the Tigers at their own 8-yard line with his fourth punt of the game.

Fourth Quarter
Following another Missouri punt, Ole Miss extended its lead with a Chambliss rushing touchdown. The Rebels surpassed 200 rushing yards for the first time since their 2025 matchup against Florida. Ole Miss held a commanding 28-3 lead over Missouri with 12:44 remaining in the game. Golding's defense forced Missouri to punt again, and the Rebels answered with an 11-play, 64-yard drive that resulted in Lucas Carneiro cashing in a 38-yard chip shot. Ole Miss led Mizzou, 31-3 with 3:39 to go in the game. Landon Barnes slammed the door shut by intercepting Simmons to turn the Tigers away for the final time in the redzone.
