PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla – Ole Miss freshman golfer Daniel Tolf was crowned co-individual champion to open the spring at the Watersound Invitational on Wednesday. Tolf becomes the first freshman in nearly 10 years to win at least a share of an individual title for Ole Miss.

The No. 9 Rebels placed fifth as a team at (833, -7).

Tolf finished the tournament at (201, -9) and splits the win with Vanderbilt's Michael Riebe and TCU's Nathan Miller.

The last freshman to win in their rookie year was Braden Thornberry who conquered them all at the FAU Slomin Autism Invite March 25-27, 2016, with rounds of 69-67-69.

Tolf opened the spring with a new career-low 18-hole score of five-under 65 in back-to-back rounds.

Tom Fischer finished T14 at two-under par, securing his sixth straight top 15 finish. The Birmingham, Alabama native was the lone Rebel to shoot under-par on Wednesday and led the field in par 3 scoring. Fischer now has nine rounds in red figures this season.

Cohen Trolio wrapped his week at even par with rounds of 66-71-73.

Ole Miss returns to action March 1-3 at the Cabo Collegiate. Twin Dolphin Club will be the site of the tournament in Los Cabos, Mexico.
