Cotie McMahon Earns Third SEC Player of the Week Honor

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the third time in the past month, Cotie McMahon has been named the SEC Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
With three Player of the Week honors in total this season, McMahon is tied for the most in the SEC and is the only player to earn three during conference play.
The senior is the first Rebel to achieve the award so many times during a year since Armintie Price, who was honored as the Player of the Week four times during the 2006-07 season.
This marks McMahon's 10th weekly conference honor and her third overall in the SEC. She was a six-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week, won Big Ten Player of the Week on Jan. 22, 2024 and was recognized this season as the SEC Player of the Week on Jan. 13 and Jan. 27.
McMahon once again had a pair of excellent outings this week, leading Ole Miss to big wins over No. 5 Vanderbilt and Auburn in neutral site games in Birmingham.
Against the Commodores, McMahon led the team with 27 points and three assists, along with four rebounds. 11 of her points came from the free throw line where she went nearly perfect on the night. With the win, McMahon has led the Rebels to a pair of victories against top five opponents this season, the other being against No. 5 Oklahoma earlier in January. The Rebels have accomplished this team feat only twice before in program history, last time being during the 1995-96 season.
Against the Tigers, McMahon led the Rebels' in scoring once again, contributing 20 points to the cause.
On the season, McMahon has 13 games north of 20 points, which ties three Rebels for the 11th-most 20-plus point games in a single season by any Rebel. She's one game away from tying her personal career high in single season 20-plus point games, which she set at her previous school. She added seven rebounds and two steals.
With McMahon's help, Ole Miss is now off to the best start in the coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin era at 19-4.
Alongside McMahon, Mississippi State's Madison Francis earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
